Scrapbook Steals Blog Hop Time!

I am so excited to be participating in the Scrapbook Steals blog hop with a handful of super-talented crafty ladies!! If you are not familiar with ScrapbookSteals.com, they are THE best place to buy an amazing variety of scrapbooking supplies at discounted prices. Trust me, once you start stealing, you won't be able to stop! If you are hopping along today, make sure you started back on the ScrapbookSteals.com blog and followed the list from there. You should have arrived here from Brett's blog

I absolutely love the steal that we got to work with today! It is the My Mind's Eye, Journal Card Kit. They're great because they can be used for so much more then just journaling. As soon as I had the cards laid out on my desk in front of me, I got this image in my head of a quilt. Of course quite often things look better in my head then they do in reality! I decided to give it a shot anyway.

Once I picked out the photo of my mischievous little monkey hiding in her toy bin, I knew that I needed to use pink thread. Then it came time to pick my paper, which is always the hardest part for me. I decided to go with my MME Fine & Dandy kit (courtesy of ScrapbookSteals of course!) as soon as I spotted the hot pink paper and trim. I also had a little help with a sketch design from SketchSupport.com (love them!).

Aside from my sewing machine and I getting into a disagreement, I had a lot of fun making this layout and  I'm pretty happy with the finished product! I decided not to add too many embellishments because I love the way the journal cards stand out on their own. I did cut out a few images from some of the cards and stuck them on with dimensional adhesives.

Thanks for playing along and visiting my blog! Remember to visit all the wonderful ladies in the hop for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to ScrapbookSteals.com. All you have to do is leave a comment on each of the 8 blogs no later then midnight on Sunday May 13th.

And just because I love to give stuff away (and have too much in my stash!) I'll be doing a little give-away of my own! To be entered into my personal blog give-away you need become a follower of my blog and leave a comment telling me a unique way you would use journaling cards! Please leave one comment only by Monday night, May 14th, at midnight. I'll pick a winner on Tuesday. This is what the winner will receive:

That's 4 sets of adorable KI puffies and 2 packages of clear Zapdots dimensional adhesives. Pretty sweet right? I think so :)

Now on with the hop! Your next stop is the crazy talented Erin Colby. Tell her I said hi!

Here is a hop list so you don't get lost!

4. Brett Quinton ~ Your previous stop!
5. Chloe Salerno ~ That's me!

  15. Your page is gorgeous!

I would laminate the tags and use them to jot down appointment dates and hang them on a clip board in my kitchen! With two kiddos, you tend to build up a lot of appointments! :)

  25. What a great way to use the tags. I'm new to scrapbooking and cardmaking and am learning so much. I wonder if the cards could be used vertically having a bit sticking out on the side...much like dividers, only you could write a short bit on each one?

  26. Wow! Gorgeous layout! What a fabulous patterned paper you turned them into and I love the pop of color the bright pink adds to it! I think I would use the tags to write little love notes on and secretly replace my hubby's bookmark with a note every now and then!

  32. Awesome use of the cards! I have to say that my sewing machine and I haven't been getting along lately, so I admire those who can get theirs to cooperate! Love the way you added color to the kraft background of cards too. TFS!

  34. Great layout! Totally love the stitching. Well I don't have any unique way of using journal cards yet. To date, I use them literally for journaling. This bloghop has surely made me think a little out of the box. I like how Katrina used them as accents. I would try them on my layouts.

  37. I love this LO!!!! How would I use the cards? Well, I am loving the whole "banner" look so I would make a banner of tags with a pic of my beautiful granddaughter Carmen on every other one! She is 3 months old and I am so in love with her!!! I cant get enough of seeing her! (my son and his family live out of state so I have to settle with pics!)

  42. Love how you turned them into quilt squares! I have a bunch of these and was wondering what to do with them. I love how you cut elements out and popped them up. I think I will take the idea from you and cut parts out and use them for cards.

  43. Love the contrast of the pink stitching with the brown journaling cards. My way might not be super creative, but I like the idea of wrapping twine around a journaling card and using it as a focal point of a greeting card.
