Getting back into it...

Wow! It's been just over a year since I created a scrapbook layout! That's kind of nuts. It's been a busy year but I'm so happy to have finally found some time to get scrappy again! I thought it would be like a riding bike, but I feel like I totally forgot what to do! Nothing fancy but I'm just thrilled to have completed a page :)
This is based on the ScrapbookSteals Daffodil 3 sketch:

Scrapbook Steals Blog Hop Time!

I am so excited to be participating in the Scrapbook Steals blog hop with a handful of super-talented crafty ladies!! If you are not familiar with ScrapbookSteals.com, they are THE best place to buy an amazing variety of scrapbooking supplies at discounted prices. Trust me, once you start stealing, you won't be able to stop! If you are hopping along today, make sure you started back on the ScrapbookSteals.com blog and followed the list from there. You should have arrived here from Brett's blog

I absolutely love the steal that we got to work with today! It is the My Mind's Eye, Journal Card Kit. They're great because they can be used for so much more then just journaling. As soon as I had the cards laid out on my desk in front of me, I got this image in my head of a quilt. Of course quite often things look better in my head then they do in reality! I decided to give it a shot anyway.

Once I picked out the photo of my mischievous little monkey hiding in her toy bin, I knew that I needed to use pink thread. Then it came time to pick my paper, which is always the hardest part for me. I decided to go with my MME Fine & Dandy kit (courtesy of ScrapbookSteals of course!) as soon as I spotted the hot pink paper and trim. I also had a little help with a sketch design from SketchSupport.com (love them!).

Aside from my sewing machine and I getting into a disagreement, I had a lot of fun making this layout and  I'm pretty happy with the finished product! I decided not to add too many embellishments because I love the way the journal cards stand out on their own. I did cut out a few images from some of the cards and stuck them on with dimensional adhesives.

Thanks for playing along and visiting my blog! Remember to visit all the wonderful ladies in the hop for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to ScrapbookSteals.com. All you have to do is leave a comment on each of the 8 blogs no later then midnight on Sunday May 13th.

And just because I love to give stuff away (and have too much in my stash!) I'll be doing a little give-away of my own! To be entered into my personal blog give-away you need become a follower of my blog and leave a comment telling me a unique way you would use journaling cards! Please leave one comment only by Monday night, May 14th, at midnight. I'll pick a winner on Tuesday. This is what the winner will receive:

That's 4 sets of adorable KI puffies and 2 packages of clear Zapdots dimensional adhesives. Pretty sweet right? I think so :)

Now on with the hop! Your next stop is the crazy talented Erin Colby. Tell her I said hi!

Here is a hop list so you don't get lost!

4. Brett Quinton ~ Your previous stop!
5. Chloe Salerno ~ That's me!
6. Erin Colby ~ Your next stop!

I'm back!

Wow!! It's been a really long time since my last post!  I keep telling myself I need to blog more.. if I could just find the time. I went for a few months without doing any crafting and I missed it like crazy. As soon as I started again, thanks to a get together with some wonderful scrappy friends, I just didn't want to stop.

I did a couple of LO's for the NSD challenges over on the ScrapbookSteals.com blog. I wish I'd had enough time to do all 4 challenges, but just had too much going on. Here are the 2 I did complete:

Challenge 1 was the Mid-Week-Mojo sketch, Turquoise #1:

I finally broke open my Studio Calico Classic Calico collection for this one!

Challenge 2 was called Turn Back Time; scrap a photo of your young self:

I thought Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe was perfect for this vintage photo of myself.

In other news, I'm a bit excited because this Saturday I'm participating in my very first blog hop! The hop is being hosted by ScrapbookSteals.com and starts at 11:00am EST / 9:00am MST. Hope you come play along! I may just do a little give-away of my own :)

Fun with Twine!

Over the past few months twine has quickly become one of my favorite embellishments to craft with! I started out with a sampler pack from The Twinery, and now I just can't get enough of the stuff. I use it on layouts & cards on a weekly basis these days. The only issue I had with my twine was how to store it. This is how I used to keep it stored and it was just not working out for me.

Every time I would pull out some twine, it would become a tangled mess. I thought there must be a better way! Then as I was cleaning my scrap room one day, I found an extra "parts container" from Canadian Tire (cost about $4). I was trying to figure out what I could use it for and then the light bulb above my head went on! Twine!!! First thing I had to do was drill some little holes in the lid of the organizer. Piece of cake. I am a pro with power tools after all! Next (fun) (not!) step was to untangle all the twine and roll them into neat little bundles. (I cheated a bit and used my drill).

Once each bundle was neatly rolled up, I slid them off of the drill as neatly as I could!

Then I placed each bundle of twine into one of the storage compartments in the organizer.

The last step was feeding the twine through the holes in the lid. Easy peasy!

Now when I need some twine, all I have to do is turn my chair around and there it is hanging perfectly on my tool rack :)

If you haven't played with twine yet, or your stash is getting low, you MUST check out ScrapbookSteals.com today!! You don't want to miss this great opportunity to score some wonderful twine at an awesome price! And don't forget to check out their blog for some more great ideas on how to use your twine :)

Happy Crafting!

Scrapbook Steals MWM Topaz #1!

It's been a while since I've posted a LO, so here is a recent one I did for the Topaz Mid Week Mojo over at ScrapbookSteals.com!
Here is the sketch:

And here is my LO using the Girl's Paperie "Paper Girl" collection I bought from ScrapbookSteals.com:

Sass Box!

Since my attempt at a video failed miserable, I decided to just take some pictures of my Sassafras Box :)  All this goodness was $45 + $20 shipping, and it was completely worth it in my opinion. There was 5 pounds of paper & embellishment in the box!

First picture is 7 alphas, 2 packages of entwined blooms, 4 packages of in a stitch blossoms, 10 packages of paper whimsies, 2 packages of chipboard alphas, and 2 packages of vintage brooches.

Next picture! Top row is Paper Crush, Amplify, Sweet Marmalade, Monstrosity, and Me Likey. Just a few sheets from each collection. The bottom row is Apple Jack paper and flag banners, and Cherry Delicious paper, flag banners, journal tags, and sweet treats.

Last picture :)  Top row is Nerdy bird paper, flag banners, and sweet treats, and Indie Girl paper, journal tags, flag banners, and sweet treats. Bottom row is a few sheets of Mix & Mend paper, journal tags, and sweet treats, and Count Me In paper, flag banners, journal tags, and sweet treats.

Now I guess I better get scrappin'!!
